Reading the news online is much better than reading the newspaper

I don’t know what it’s like where you’re from, but reading The West Australian is like some form of anger management exposure therapy. It does nothing but angry up the blood and leave you feeling like seceding so you don’t have to deal with the crappy government, people abusing positions of authority and the plebs that populate this town/country. Today’s news: an MP getting done for sexual harassment, celebrities on page three, and talk of increasing parking costs in the metro area as well as the shitty, but not putting an extra lane in the freeway. Because the fact that the 15% of people who are driving in/out of the city with multiple people in their car deserve to get stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic with the majority of crappy drivers (they’re all crappy drivers) who are alone in their isolation capsule. Because apparently the fact that the two lane section of the freeway is clogged up every single week day from 2pm until 7pm doesn’t necessitate an extra lane for all those fucking people. Seriously, are the people in charge even in touch with what they’re in charge of?

So imagine three of us sitting around ranting about that stuff and the newspaper is a pretty emotionally charged way to start the day. Internet news is much better: you get to filter out the crap and just post the interesting stuff.

That’s ultimate powerrrr right there
Britney finally does something awesome. (And yes this is celebrity gossip, but it is something which impacts on pretty much every woman and a lot of men)
As if sharks, crocodiles, piranhas and giant snakes weren’t reason enough to stay out of the water
So many souls going to waste
They’ve located another molecule in the brain which plays a role in depression and anxiety. Simply put, this area of the brain which is involved primarily with memory and anxiety/depression develops more neurons in the presence of this molecule, which then reduces anxiety. Fewer neurons = increased anxiety. Not only that, but even treatment of anti-depressants won’t work as effectively at developing neurons when this molecule is lacking. Exciting news and I hope that more research gets done into this molecule, and more specifically, increasing production of it. Also, this could help explain my crappy memory.
Scientists can now see thoughts of suicide on an electroencephalograph test. This study is specifically in reference to people who are on anti-depressants and experience worsening suicidal ideation (the two drugs patients took in the test were venlafaxine and fluoxetine, aka Prozac, anti-depressant of choice for a long time for myself & the great Elizabeth Wurtzel)
Biological evidence of the link between stress, anxiety and depression. This one receptor produces more of the serotonin receptors in the brain which leads to depression. It also leads to anxiety in times of stress. But this team of scientists have come up with a way of blocking the receptor causing trouble in mice, combating anxiety and potentially depression.
Once again, a study showing how fear of fat & the ideal of thinness impacts on all women, even those who appear to have no body issues, but not men

Happy news day :)
